MEMBERS of the public will learn about policing techniques throughout history at Gunwharf Quays.

Hampshire Constabulary will be at the Portsmouth shopping complex displaying some of their current equipment for the event, called Policing Through The Ages.

There will be demonstrations from police dogs, police horses, forensic fingerprint technique displays and firearms workshops.

During these talks, officers will show a range of weapons which have been seized from youths in Hampshire and inform people of the dangers of the devices.

Identity theft officers from City of London Police will also be at the event to talk about their experiences.

And submersible vessels – mini-submarines used by diving officers when looking for bodies or investigating terrorist attacks – will be on show in the marina.

Visitors will also have the chance to see vintage police cars, motorbikes and van

The event takes place from 11am to 4pm on Saturday October 1.
