A POMPEY fan forced to give up his season ticket after he had to quit work has won tickets to Fratton Park.
Graham Bates, 54, ruptured the tendons in his foot and has since had five operations and is awaiting another one.
It means he was unable to work and therefore couldn’t continue to fund his season ticket at Pompey.
But now, thanks to The News, he will be watching Pompey face Southend United at Fratton Park today. He will go with his friend Adrian Reed, who nominated him.
Graham, from Velder Avenue in Southsea, said: ‘It’s brilliant. I thought Adrian was winding me up when he told me. I haven’t been to Fratton Park since 2009. I am over the moon.’
Adrian, 51, from Sedgley Close in Somers Town, added: ‘To go from being a season ticket holder to nothing, I thought if I can get a ticket then I will please him and give him a surprise.’
The News gives away tickets to every Pompey home game, to supporters who are having a rough time or who are struggling financially.
