HISTORICAL fashion trends will be explored in a talk.

On Thursday, July 16 Petersfield Museum curator, Dr Kathrin Pieren, will lead a talk on 19th century fashion.

The event will take attendees on a journey through fashion history using historical images and examples from Petersfield Museum’s own collection and those from other museums.

The focus of the talk will be changes in style, how the body was shaped with garments, and how the Victorians used dress to express the stages of mourning.

Dr Pieren’s discussion will accompany this year’s dress exhibition at the museum’s Flora Twort Gallery which showcases a selection of dresses and accessories from the 19th century.

It takes place at the Physic Garden starting at 7pm and refreshments will be provided.

Tickets are £5 (£4 to members and volunteers) and should be purchased in advance from the Flora Twort Gallery.
