A GARDEN party marked 15 years of a charity helping families.

The event saw volunteers from Home Start Meon Valley mingle with past volunteers, dignitaries, trustees and supporters.

Guests of honour included founder of Home-Start UK Margaret Harrison, Mayor of Winchester Ernie Jeffs and Peter Clarke, the President of Bishop’s Waltham Rotary Club.

The charity’s patron the Honourable Virginia Lovell also made a guest appearance. They gathered for tea and cakes in the Palace grounds in Bishop’s Waltham.

Home Start Meon Valley helps families with children under five who are going through difficult times.

Since its inception the charity has trained over 400 volunteers and supported more than 1,000 local families.

Claire Wilde, senior co-ordinator from the charity, said; ‘It went exceptionally well. We were very lucky with the weather. We wanted to thank all the people who have supported us over the last 15 years.’
