FOUR members of a Chichester triathlon team have achieved top 10 places in the European Triathlon Championships.

The event, in Turkey, saw Westgate Leisure’s Kurt Gunby take fourth place. Mary Campbell was in sixth place, Persephone Hagan won ninth place and fitness trainer Mike Cooper came in ninth place, in their age groups.

The race started with a 1,500m swim, followed by a 40km bike race and finishing with a 10km run – which included a 400m hill in the middle of each lap.

Mr Cooper said he is now aiming for the Wold Championships and added: ‘It was a really difficult course and so we are delighted with our results.’
