AUSTRALIAN news crews have descended upon the city to report on the upcoming anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign.

Crews from Channel 9, the Special Broadcasting Service and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation have been around the city shooting footage in preparation for the event.

A spokeswoman for the Historic Dockyard said: ‘It’s something that is very close to the hearts of the Australians and it’s been great having them here. Hopefully it should generate a lot of interest over there and encourage people to come here to visit.’

Portsmouth will play a key role in the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli campaign, when HMS M33 will be unveiled in the dockyard after a major restoration project.
