The threat of bad weather and an abundance of mud didn't stop people pouring into Goodwood for the start of the 2016 Festival of Speed.

The annual motoring event began with the Moving Motor Show yesterday which offered enthusiasts a chance to tackle the famous hillclimb in one of the very latest new passenger car models – many making their UK or world debuts.

The festival starts in earnest today, with many top performance cars on display.

Despite recent rain, the weather forecast is promising a dry and sunny outlook for all three days of the 2016 Festival of Speed, which this weekend will be celebrating the theme of ‘Full Throttle – The Endless Pursuit of Power.’

This year’s striking central feature, designed by sculptor Gerry Judah, celebrates 100 years of BMW.
