PEOPLE are invited to sing their hearts out at an event this weekend.

Portsmouth Festival Choir will be in Chichester tomorrow for a day’s Come and Sing event featuring choruses from Handel’s stirring oratorio Judas Maccabaeus.

Diana Wren, from the group, said: ‘Although no longer as well known as the composer’s Messiah, this work is full of magnificent choruses reflecting the changing moods of the Jewish people as their fortunes vary from dejection to jubilation and includes the joyous “See, the conquering hero comes!” and the thrilling “Sound an Alarm”.’

All the choruses will be studied on the day under the baton of musical director, Peter Allwood.

The day will begin at 11am and finish at 5pm. The event takes place at St Paul’s Church, Churchside.

Tickets are £15. Students pay £8. Call (023) 9273 7470.
