GROWING 20,000 pumpkins is no mean feat and for one farm, they do it every year.

The Stoke Fruit Farm, on Hayling Island, plants around 20 different types of pumpkin seeds with around 10,000 to 15,000 available to sell.

From carving to cinderella pumpkins, the farm, off Havant Road, is popular with families in the run up to halloween.

The Wilson family, who own the farm and shop, say their aim is to sell all their pumpkins by halloween.

Sam Wilson says: ‘Our pumpkins are one of the only things we grow which we need to get rid of by a certain date.

‘People are only mostly interested around halloween.

‘As well as the popular carving pumpkin, we do sell edible ones like the grey crown prince to the cinderella variety which have a harder skin.

‘We sell around 10,000 to 15,000 but it depends on how well they have grown.’
