THE National Watersports Festival has got off to a flying start.

The three-day event is the biggest watersports event in the UK with thousands descending on Beachlands, Hayling Island, this weekend.

Today was trade day where brands set up stalls for enthusiasts to grab some bargains.

But there was still plenty of action on the water – including taster sessions in paddleboarding, windsurfing and kayaking.

Organiser Alan Cross said: ‘It’s been great so far. It is the biggest mass participation event and you don’t have to be a pro to join in. But they are here to support you.’
