PROMISING young actors from Portsmouth and the surrounding areas received words of wisdom about their dream future career from an industry professional.

Max Lewendel, artistic director of Icarus Theatre Collective, visited Portsmouth to lead an audition workshop masterclass for the Kings Youth Theatre Leading Lights.

The masterclass offered drama and performing arts students the opportunity to present and workshop a performance piece to hone their audition technique and gain confidence. Students from Leading Lights attended as well as those from elsewhere.

Sophie Nickerson, 17, is a member of Leading Lights.

She said: ‘I really enjoyed the night as I was taught a lot about first impressions and about what to expect in an audition environment.

‘The workshop was a great idea for Kings Youth Theatre and I learnt a lot about myself and how I could improve my monologue.

‘Max was a great guy to be taught by too.’
