PLANS for a community festival are going full steam ahead.

The volunteers behind Forton Fest, which is now in its 10th year, are putting together a variety of stalls and activities with plenty for everyone to enjoy.

Tammy Kent, the chairwoman of the event, which takes place on Forton Recreation Ground, Gosport, said: ‘From jewellery to build-a-buddy to fairground rides, trampolines, bouncy castles, face painting, glitter tattoos and a even visit from Darth Vader, there is something for every generation.

‘This year there is even the chance to win a Minion from Despicable Me 2.

‘While this is a free entry event we do ask if people would be kind enough to donate tinned or dry food such as beans, soups or pastas that we can donate to The Gosport Basics Bank.

‘And we ask that and any spare change is donated to The Gosport Salvation Army.

‘They are two very kind charities from our area that have helped my family and me in the past two years.’

The main raffle prize is an iPad 4 and many other top prizes have been donated by local businesses, including a £100 hamper from Hayley Hood, tickets to see the David Haye vs Tyson Fury fight by Rob Butchart, and a disco by Malcolm Ellis.

The fun begins at 10am on August 31 and there will be music by local acts until 7pm.
