A NEWLY-REFURBISHED Indian restaurant is cooking up tasty treats to raise money for charity.

Mela restaurant, in Drift Road, Clanfield, is inviting the public to enjoy a selection of thali curry dishes for £20 per person, with all proceeds going to Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event takes place this Wednesday, December 9, from 5pm, and will be a way of celebrating the restaurant’s 10th anniversary.

It is the latest fundraiser for Macmillan by the restaurant’s owner Iqbal Miah.

Mr Miah comes from a family affected by cancer and last year held a curry night at another one of his restaurants, the Shalimar in North End, which raised more than £1,000.

He said: ‘On our 10th anniversary, I would like to invite the local community to come along and enjoy a delicious meal with us knowing at the same time they are fundraising for a good cause locally.’

All funds raised will be used by Macmillan to fund vital cancer services for people affected by cancer, from specialist nurses to grants for cancer patients with money problems. To find out more about the event call Mela on (023) 9242 7772 or visit themelarestaurant.co.uk
