THE Spinnaker Tower is set to be turned blue to promote Blue September – a national campaign to raise awareness about cancers affecting men.
Cities across the UK will join the campaign which asks people to paint their faces blue to show their support.
The tower will change to blue tomorrow until September 18 – the date when Portsmouth is asked to don the facepaints.
Pompey will promote the campaign at their match with Swindon Town on the same date. Fans will be provided with information through the match programme and online.
Every year 154,000 men in the UK are diagnosed with cancer – and 81,000 die. Men are 60 per cent more likely to develop lung, bowel or bladder cancers than women and are 70 per cent more likely to die from one of these cancers. See blueseptember.org/uk
