THE world of toy racing cars will be celebrated at a convention.
Almost 60 years after it was first built in Havant, people from across the region will gather to buy, sell, swap and chat about Scalextric.
Scalextric was first made in Havant in 1956 and was invented by Fred Francis, of Minimodels Ltd.
Clockwork motor cars had been made at the New Lane factory since 1952, but when their popularity waned, a more modern electric toy car was invented.
The cars were a huge success and were manufactured in Havant until 1969.
The event takes place at Havant Leisure Centre, in Civic Centre Road, on Sunday, September 28 from 10.30am.
Admission for adults is £1. For more details see facebook.com/HavantScalextric.
