THOUSANDS of miles away a team of five are trekking across Antarctica in its winter.

But now people can follow their progress using a phone.

The Coldest Journey app shows their current location.

As reported, Gosport-based Ian Prickett, 35, is on the trek, which started on March 21 and has not been attempted before.

The sun has now set in the Antarctic for three months and the team are in –30C weather with wind at 21 knots.

February saw trek leader Sir Ranulph Fiennes pull out with frostbite.
