FRIENDS and family of dedicated Pompey fan Scott Mclachlan saw him off as he started a mammoth walk.

Mr Mclachlan, 44, from Southsea, aims to visit all 92 grounds in the football league in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.

He started the challenge from Fratton Park yesterday morning and was joined by friends, family and fellow Pompey fans as he made his way to The Hard and then on to the Gosport Ferry.

He was aiming to reach St Mary’s stadium in Southampton last night, but stifling heat slowed down his progress and he expects to get there today.

Mr Mclachlan said: ‘It was tough – I wasn’t expecting this heat, but it’s no big deal. It’s not a race.

‘I had my lunch on Lee-on-the-Solent beach and that was lovely.’

After Southampton, Mr Mclachlan will walk to Bournemouth. He hopes to complete his journey at Brighton and Hove Albion’s Falmer Stadium next March.
