UGLY scenes tainted the end of what should have been a celebration for a Bognor Regis football team.

On Monday night Bognor Regis Town Football Club (The Rocks) put in a solid performance to beat Kingstonian FC 2-1 away.

But footage recorded after the final whistle seems to show Kingstonian’s goalkeeper Rob Tolfrey jump into the crowd, allegedly in response to something shouted by a supporter.

Blows were traded before players and staff from both sides attempted to separate the pair.

The FA has confirmed they are investigating and says both clubs have been asked to provide their observations by next Tuesday.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: ‘Police were called to a fight at Kingstonian FC around 9:45pm and we are currently investigating.’

A spokesman for the Ryman Football League said: ‘We are well aware of the incident which took place after the game between Bognor and Kingstonian. We will be following any investigation by the FA closely, but are unable to comment further until that has been completed.’

Bognor Regis Town Football Club supporters have also appealed for information.

Ian Guppy said: ‘I’ve started an investigation on behalf of the supporters club and will run that in conjunction with the (BRTFC) management committee - if anyone has any information please email brtfcsupportersclub@talktalk.net.’
