Video - Offbeat: Illegal James Bond covers are being used across Britain

The £70 electric gadgets are widely available - with hundreds estimated to have been sold in the UK just in the last few months.

They mimic the iconic number plate rotater used on Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 in Goldfinger.

But instead of dodging villains, modern versions are aimed at avoiding speed cameras, bus lane tickets, yellow line fines and even time limits on supermarket car parks.

Videos show how the stealth number plate covers are fitted to the front and back of the car and wired up to a sensor next to the steering wheel.
