These were the dramatic scenes as the tail end of Storm Barney battered Southsea seafront.

Gale force winds of between 40mph to 50mph hit Portsmouth and the surrounding area last night but, on the Isle of Wight, which is more exposed, they have reached 60mph.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning which meant people should be aware.

There were no reported incidents to Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service.
