A BLUEPRINT for how residents want their town to develop is gathering momentum.
The Emsworth Forum, working with Emsworth Residents Association, Emsworth Business Association and other local groups, has taken the first big step in developing the Local Neighbourhood Plan.
The final plan will give a framework to Havant Borough Council that it will use to guide development across everything from parking to flooding, and education to house building.
It has to be ready by May 2016. The forum already has more than 400 members.
The process to making the plan involves an initial survey, then a detailed questionnaire being sent to every household.
A draft plan will be produced for more consultation before being sent to the council for approval.
A government inspector will then make sure it is sound before it goes to a public referendum for final approval.
A spokeswoman for the forum said: ‘It sounds like a long winded process, but the final result will be a document that details exactly what we all want and will save the council time and money when it comes to making sure all new developments and improvements to the town are what we want for us, our children and many residents in future.’
