FROM Daimlers to E-Type Jaguars, owners of classic cars met up for the first time this year.

The Hayling Legends group was started eight years ago by John Bennett and Dennis Cooper.

Mr Bennett, who owns a 1927 Austin and an E-Type Jaguar, said: ‘The group is for car enthusiasts in Hayling Island, and the surrounding areas, to meet up.

‘We love these old cars and many people remember them so it’s quite nostalgic.

‘We talk about mechanical problems, exchange stories and later in the year go on rallies and organise community events.’

Yesterday, the group of around 22 vintage car-lovers met in the car park of the Hayling Billy Pub, in Elm Grove, Hayling Island.

Cars ranged from 1930 to 1980 and included Morris models and Austins.
