A VOLUNTARY organisation is looking to appoint someone who will help improve services for older people.

Community First East Hampshire is running a project looking at the needs of older people in rural communities.

The post of an older person’s outreach worker will see the successful candidate look at existing services – with a particular emphasis on transport.

It is hoped the project will improve knowledge of services among the older population, and help to improve them.

The role is being funded by the Big Lottery Fund.

The project was due to finish at the end of December 2012, but has got a six month extension in order to carry out an evaluation of the services that are already provided.

The Community First East Hampshire group represents charities and voluntary groups in the east Hampshire area.

It is hoping to secure additional funding to continue its work.
