ELEVEN new volunteers are looking forward to offering a helping hand to families with young children going through a critical time in their lives.

The volunteers, who are all parents themselves, completed Home-Start Butser’s 11-week preparation course, which took place at Merchistoun Hall in Horndean.

Last year Home-Start Butser supported 80 families from the area, which covers from Rowlands Castle in the south to Greatham in the north through situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability or who are just finding parenting a struggle.

Certificates were presented by Councillor Lynn Evans, chairwoman of Horndean Parish Council.

Nicola Winter, senior organiser, said: ‘We are proud to celebrate the scheme’s 15th birthday and hope to be able to continue the vital work of supporting local families.’
