HUNDREDS of young people rounded off three weeks of fun at a festival.

The event, dubbed Whestival, was the grand finale of Access All Areas, a series of free activities held in the Fareham area.

Nearly 300 young people were at the event which saw musical acts perform, a barbecue, and various fun activities taking place on the playing field next to Meadowside Leisure Centre in Whiteley,

DJ Small Paul held DJ workshops throughout the three weeks and took to the decks at the festival.

He said: ‘I’ve shown easily over 100 kids how to put two tunes together and for me that’s what it’s all about. The event is brilliant, I don’t remember anything like this when I was their age.’

Narinder Bains, who organised the scheme for the council, said: ‘There has been a fantastic turn out, we are really pleased.’

Laura Thwaites, 12, from Whiteley, was getting her nails painted at the event. She said: ‘It’s fun to come down here with my friends. I hope I can come along again next year.’
