A NEW shopping mall was welcomed into Wickham with a fashion show and charity event.

The development in Wickham Square – Warwick Lane – held an open evening in aid of the Rowans Hospice to celebrate its official opening.

A fashion show was organised by Sarah Williams, the manager of The Rowans Hospice Shop, and displayed donated clothes, modelled by 45 staff, volunteers and customers.

Miss Williams, 29, from Portchester, said: ‘It was an exciting evening.

‘I’m so grateful to everyone who helped us put this special event together.

‘We feel part of Wickham’s tight-knit community. It was a community event.’

The models hair and make-up was provided free of charge by Head Masters and the chairs and tables by Wickham Centre.

Warwick Lane has eight shops and a coffee shop.

The shop site has a long history dating back to 1894 and was originally a cake shop, later becoming a hardware shop.
