LEARNING on the job is helping young people forge a career.
Lockheed Martin, a global defence firm with a base at Langstone Technology Park in Havant, has taken on teenagers for its engineering apprenticeship scheme.
Two of them are Adam Riches, 19, from Alverstoke, and Alex Masters, 18, from Havant.
Adam said: ‘While my apprenticeship has been technically challenging, I’ve had a great deal of support and guidance from my colleagues, acquiring best practice skills along the way. I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to a real programme and learn about game-changing technologies at the same time.’
Alex said: ‘Working with my mentor and colleagues here has given me the opportunity to develop skills that I’ll use throughout my career.’
