YOUNGSTERS from TS Alacrity will be able to continue their good work thanks to the public’s generosity.

The group of seven to 18-year-olds meet each week at their independent navy cadet corp in Denmead Memorial Hall to promote leadership, discipline, resourcefulness, independence and stamina.

They put the skills they learn at the cadets into practice in the community.

Lieutenant Commander Pat Smith said: ‘We believe around £900 was raised at the fete which is brilliant.

‘That money will go towards keeping the children off the streets.

‘We help them become better members of the community. They go into many different disciplines when they leave.’
