SCOUTS from across the area were honoured for their outstanding personal achievements.

The Chief Scout’s Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Platinum Awards were handed to 73 boys and girls by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth at a service at Springfield School on Thursday.

The youngsters, aged between six and 18-years-old, have all completed a range of adventurous challenges, including service to their community, going on an outdoors expedition, learning a new skill or developing a talent.

Crystal Pickles, aged seven, from the 53rd Portsmouth Scouts received the bronze award. She said: ‘Beavers is good fun. I’ve got lots of friends there. I enjoyed Harry Potter Camp and trying out climbing.’

Councillor Frank Jonas, Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, added: ‘Congratulations to all and all the very best for Scouting in the Portsmouth area.’
