A FREE day out is being hosted in Portsmouth to mark National Play Day.

Portsmouth City Council’s ‘Healthy Pompey’ is hosting the day out next Wednesday from 11am to 3pm in Victoria Park.

Classic playground games will be run throughout the day by the Healthy Pompey team, encouraging parents and children to get involved.

Everyone is welcome to come along and families will be invited to get involved in the various activities available including hula hooping and making smoothies on the smoothie bike.

Asha Lal, health development Officer at Portsmouth City Council, said: ‘The day is all about celebrating a child’s right to play and we are showing families that they don’t need a lot of play equipment to enjoy green open spaces.

‘We will have lots happening on the day and we hope families will come along and get involved in the fun and games.’

Parents are encouraged to bring a picnic and to stay hydrated throughout the day.
