A GROUP of performers travelled to France to take part in an international festival.

The delegation of 35 people including 24 performers from the Kings Youth Theatre and Victory-Land Theatre School took part in Caen’s annual International Festival.

It’s an event featuring performers from Caen’s twin cities including those in Senegal, USA, Macedonia, Germany, Romania and England.

Organised by the Caen committee and with the support of Brittany Ferries and Portsmouth City Council, the group spent two nights in Caen.

The festival, held in the town square, saw performers from each twin city take to the stage.

Portsmouth stars treated people to songs from Oh! What a Lovely War and Oliver!.

Marisa Green, 17, from the Kings Youth Theatre, said: ‘Experiencing a different culture and gaining practical dramatic experience was great.

‘The architecture in Caen is amazing.’
