ORGANISERS of a food festival have hailed the event a success.

Thousands of people turned out over the weekend to enjoy the Petersfield Festival of Food and Drink.

More than 150 stalls lined the streets with everything from sumptuous cupcakes to local cheeses.

Crowds huddled around stalls as celebrity chefs gave cooking demonstrations.

One of the stall holders, Alison Shaw, of Headley Down-based business The Chilli Garden, said: ‘The huge variety of produce available at the festival was truly impressive.

‘The atmosphere in the town was brilliant and we are grateful for the support and enthusiasm that we always receive from the people of Petersfield.’

Graeme Moir, who was part of the organising committee for the event, said: ‘What a fantastic event for Petersfield.

‘It was great to see the town centre’s streets packed with visitors throughout the weekend – closing the roads allowed people to roam freely without having to dodge past parked cars and traffic.’
