KIND George Jackson has made making friends his job.
The 90-year-old has volunteered at Gosport Voluntary Action’s Befriending Service for 10 years, first as a visitor and then as a befriender, calling people to talk.
So his fellow volunteers at the service wanted to make sure he enjoyed his 90th birthday.
They surprised him with a cake and visit by the Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Richard Dickson along with a certificate of achievement.
George said: ‘I was totally unprepared.
‘Prior to the party, for some reason I had a cup of tea brought to me and all that sort of thing, and I still never twigged.
‘I was overwhelmed, the real friendship shown by everybody.’
