YOUNG people not in education, employment or training will get extra help.

It comes as Gosport is set to become a pilot area for a new Department for Work and Pensions scheme.

It will help 16 and 17-year-olds who do not receive income-based benefit.

Job Centre Plus will give them extra help to get them back into employment, education or training.

Welcoming the move, town MP Caroline Dinenage said: ‘This government has a strong track record of getting young people into employment and I am delighted it is continuing to look at ways by which youth unemployment can be tackled. It is great that this exciting scheme will be trialled in Gosport.’
