FUNDRAISERS brought a splash of colour to their local for a worthy cause.

More than 120 customers packed The Golden Lion, in High Street, Fareham, for a pink-themed party last Saturday to raise cash for The Portsmouth Breast Care Centre at Queen Alexandra Hospital, in Cosham.

Punters turned up in pink wigs, hats, clothes and accessories as they tucked into a buffet with bright pink cupcakes.

The evening, which raised almost £2,000, featured an auction, a prize raffle and regular Nathan Vick, 32, getting his back waxed.

Cash for The Portsmouth Breast Care Centre was also raised from a quiz evening the week before.

A cheque for the total amount raised was presented to breast care nurses yesterday afternoon.

Diane McEwen, 47, landlady of The Golden Lion, got behind the cause after her regular Julie Brealey was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year.

Diane said: ‘Julie wanted to give something back for all the care she has been given. It was a fantastic night. Everyone made a big effort and got into the spirit of things.’
