Plant trees for the Queen in Horndean

THE Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be marked with the planting of 60 trees.

People can sponsor the trees which will be planted in various places across Horndean.

Horndean parish councillor Robert Sowden said: ‘This will be a reminder of the celebrations for years to come and be of great benefit to the environment.’

The council believes it could be an opportunity for residents to sponsor individual trees in the name of their children or in memory of a loved one.

‘This level of personal involvement and ownership could greatly reduce the potential for vandalism,’ said council chairman Lynn Evans.

The individual locations are yet to be decided.

But it is hoped that details will soon be available of the locations and the types of tree suitable.

For further information on the sponsorship scheme, contact the Parish Office on (023) 9259 7766 or email contact@horndeanpc-hants.gov.uk
