It is open to knitters of all ages and admission is £1 for the session.

Jose Taylor, 71, from Southsea, regularly attends the sessions and has met new friends at it.

She said: ‘It’s a good afternoon out.

‘There is always someone telling jokes and putting the world to rights.

‘At the moment I am knitting a cardigan and there is always someone to help you if you have a knitting problem.’
