Poetry celebrates city's character

REV PAUL CHAMBERLAIN: ‘I’m more offended by poverty than a Greggs’ sausage roll’

A poetry collection celebrating the wonders of Portsmouth is the focus of an event today.

Ten of the poets who contributed to This Island City will read from the new publication at Wordsouth, in The Pallant, Havant, from 7pm.

This Island City celebrates the history and character of Portsmouth in verse.

Anne Jenkins, Director of Wordsouth, said: 'We are delighted to be hosting an evening of music and poetry celebrating this first-ever anthology of poetry about Portsmouth.

'It is fantastic to see the quality of local talent pull together like this. The book is a delight.'
