A CANNABIS factory worth £6,000 has been uncovered in a police raid at a house.

About 27 plants were found in the loft of a house in Dursley Crescent, Paulsgrove during a search at about 7.20am today.

Hydroponic equipment was being used to aid the growth of the class B drugs.

Officers from Cosham and Paulsgrove Safer Neighbourhoods teams acted after members of the public reported suspicious activity and a strange smell coming from the property.

PC Patch Collins from Paulsgrove Safer Neighbourhoods team said: 'We found 27 plants that had been grown to over a metre in height and half a metre across, and luckily we had good timing as none of the plants had been harvested for the next stage in the drug production.

'We want to thank the members of the community who came forward with information about the property, and hope this sends out the message that we will not tolerate drug related activity.'
