PORTSMOUTH City Council has come under fire for accidentally publishing the identity of the woman Mike Hancock is accused of sexually assaulting.

A document about advice given from Ian Wise QC included her surname, even though The Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992 orders she has lifetime anonymity because she is an alleged sexual offence victim.

The detail in the document, which was published online, has since been removed. A friend of the victim has sent a complaint to the council’s chief executive David Williams.
