A CITY councillor has criticised First Bus for putting up its ticket prices - at a time when the cost of fuel is falling.

From Saturday, 10p increases were introduced on most adult and child single and return fares in the Portsmouth, Waterlooville, Fareham and Gosport areas.

Lib Dem Cllr Michael Andrewes is writing to the company to demand it abandons its fare increases and reduces them instead.

He said: ‘I am shocked and outraged that not only is First Bus not passing on the reductions in the fuel price, but they have the nerve to increase fares.

‘So I have written to have asking them to reconsider this and reduce fares instead.’
