A RARE opportunity to open a waterfront restaurant in a scheduled monument as part of a creative development in Old Portsmouth has been announced.

Dating back to 1680s, 18 Gun Battery in Broad Street boasts a unique internal setting with views of the Solent and Portsmouth Harbour and the option for outside terrace seating.

It is located within an arts quarter project called ‘Hotwalls Studios’, where neighbouring arches are being transformed into 13 creative spaces.

Businesses have until Friday, January 15 to tender for the 15-year lease. The main premises have planning permission for a restaurant along with a smaller unit that can be used for retail or as a cafe.

It is hoped the restaurant will open to coincide with the launch of the studios in July 2016.
