A COUNCILLOR has defended a council’s decision not to give a youth centre the cash it needs.

Councillor Keith Manns, executive lead for children’s services at Hampshire County Council said it has a 40 per cent reduction in its own funds.

As reported, Focus Youth Group, in Lee-on-the-Solent, wanted £13,000 but got £9,000. Cllr Mans said: ‘I know that, like many, they were disappointed not to receive the full amount applied for towards their overall costs. Grants are one-off payments and cannot be guaranteed.’
