AUDITORS have praised a council for its financial management despite the gloomy economic climate.

Effective use of resources and shared services by East Hampshire District Council were highlighted in the report by the District Auditor.

The joint management structure with Havant Borough Council was hailed as a particular success.

District Council Leader Patrick Burridge said he was delighted and the glowing report was a tribute to the hard work of councillors and staff who have made savings and maintained services in a harsh environment for the public sector.
