A LONG-serving councillor has decided to step down at the next election.
After almost 12 years representing Rowlands Castle on East Hampshire District Council, Conservative Councillor Marge Harvey has decided to call it a day.
But she will continue in her role of being the county councillor for Horndean, Rowlands Castle and Clanfield – a job she has held since 2013.
Cllr Harvey, who was born and grew up in Rowlands Castle, said: ‘It’s time for a new person to come in and take over.
‘I’m just so busy with Hampshire and East Hampshire that I have not got any time to myself at all.
‘I have loved looking after Rowlands Castle – that was my aim in the beginning.
‘I have tried my utmost to do that.’
Cllr Harvey will step down in May and wants to spend more time with her family.
