DIFFICULT decisions will have to made about the future of a library.

That was the message from Emsworth councillor Brendan Gibb-Gray, who was commenting on proposals by Hampshire County Council to move the library from St Peter’s Square to the community centre.

Cllr Gibb-Gray said: ‘One thing everyone seems to be agreed on is Emsworth wants a library. But to make the library a viable and sustainable proposition, some difficult and possibly unpalatable decisions have to be made.’

He said the council would not renew the lease on the current building.

He added: ‘So this is not a debate about where the library should be, but a dialogue about whether we will have a library at all in Emsworth.’
