Portsmouth MP flies out to storm-hit islands on first trip as development secretary

Have your say

CRACKED pavements near Palmerston Road in Southsea have been fixed after a disabled man raised concerns.

Wheelchair user Jonathan Bartlett, who lives in Ormsby Lodge residential home, Ormsby Road, Southsea, wrote letters to Mike Hancock, MP for Portsmouth South, to complain the pavements near his home were not safe enough.

Within weeks, Colas workers changed the paving to make it level.

The MP then visited Ormsby Lodge to thank Mr Bartlett for bringing it to his attention.

Mr Bartlett, 59, said: ‘I’m glad it’s fixed. It’ll be better for everybody.’
