Education secretary quizzed over academy plan by town MP

AN MP has raised education leaders' concerns about government plans to turn all schools into academies.

Suella Fernandes told education secretary Nicky Morgan there are concerns in Hampshire about the plan during a meeting of the Education Select Committee.

The Fareham MP said: ‘What would you say is the benefit from the white paper for those primary schools that do perform well?’

Mrs Morgan said good schools could do better and that no-one should be complacent.

She said: ‘I do just think actually that the best people to run schools are the people right at the front line – the heads, the teachers and the governors.’
