CHRISTMAS jumpers are usually seen as a bit of a fashion faux pas.

But that didn’t stop Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage from donning a festive knit to raise money for a children’s charity.

Yesterday was the first ever Christmas Jumper Day, held by Save the Children to raise money for youngsters in need.

Ms Dinenage said: ‘I’ve always been a fan of the Christmas jumper, so I couldn’t wait to offer my support to this great campaign that will help raise money to improve the lives of vulnerable children in the UK and overseas.’

The fundraising day saw schoolchildren and organisations across the area pay a £1 donation to in return to wearing a cozy Christmas jumper to work or school.
