GYM fanatics will have a new place to train after councillors approved plans for a health and fitness centre.

The centre, in Stoke Road, Gosport, will be put in a unit that has been empty since October 2012. It will include a dance area, ring area, a dojo for martial arts and a creche.

Permission was granted despite four objections to the plans over parking pressures, fears over competition with other health centres and concern it would not fit in.

Councillors also approved a detached three-bedroom home with detached garage at Long Water Drive, Anglesey.

Retrospective permission was granted for a detached outbuilding in Vernon Road, despite concern from an objector that the building was used as a ‘club room’ with loud music on at night.

A single-storey rear extension in Braemar Close, Bridgemary was also approved.
